Kusadasi, Turkey - We've got it covered

On the South West coast, just 90km south of Izmir, lies Kusadasi literally translated as 'bird island'. Having taken its name from Pigeon Island, an area reached from the town by a causeway, Kusadasi has for many years been a favoured tourist resort with many that have visited once, returning again and again. Now recognised as one of the most the most attractive resorts on the Aegean, it's long hot summers, wealth of nearby historical sites, stunning scenery and friendly community have seen Kusadasi grow rapidly over recent years to become a thriving tourist haven and a popular choice with property investors.

Kusadasi plays home to numerous sandy beaches offering the chance to swim in crystal clear, warm waters so is ideal for summer holidays and a great choice for a holiday home or buy to let investment. One of most established of the Aegean resorts, it has grown to accommodate everything a tourist may want and has a cosmopolitan feel throughout the city. It is a large city with a permanent population in excess of 50,000.This figure more than triples during the high season as tourists flock to the many hotels, apartments and villas on offer and arrive on the impressive cruise liners that dock at the marina.

Kusadasi is a fabulous place to explore with many boutiques, markets and shops in the centre, and you are spoilt for choice with numerous restaurants serving a tasty mix of traditional and international cuisine, entertainment and hospitality from morning well into the early hours. There's a pretty palm lined promenade homing little cafes and bars and no end of water sports and activities, boat trips and excursions on offer near the beaches. For history buffs, Kusadasi is ideally located within easy reach of Ephesus, the House of the Virgin Mary, Theatre of Miletus, Seven Sleepers, Didyma, Priene and Miletos meaning there's ample places to see and no excuse to get bored!

The history of Kusadasi is fascinating and spans many centuries. It was invaded by Persians in 546BC, dominated by the Roman Empire in 200BC, its 'Scala Nova' port became a favoured trading centre of the Byzantines, Venetian, Greek, Jewish and Armenians, and the favourable coastal location of Kusadasi led to the city being reigned by the Ottomans after the invasion of Sultan Mehmet Celebi in 1413. The Ottomans stamped their presence on the city by introducing impressive buildings many of which can still be seen today. The citadel of the castle on Pigeon Island and the fortress, walls and mosques in the centre of Kusadasi reflects the architectural style of the Ottomans and are well worth a visit. It wasn't until 1922 that Kusadasi became part of the Turkish Republic, previously it was invaded and run by the Greeks. It is today an atmospheric place, far more than your average resort, and offers investors a good stable opportunity as property prices continue to rise year on year due to tourist demand.
